Here it is: the VISpas 2020
The design for the new VISpas 2020 is now complete. From almost 1,500 submissions of the best fishing photos for the VISpas 2020, we have chosen five finalists. We’ll tell the stories behind the five winning photos below. The German members can expect to receive their VISpas 2020 by post in December. New members can also order the VISpas 2020 via www.vispas.nl starting from 1 December.
WILCO DE BRUIJNE
The ‘opening photo’ for the VISpas 2020 was taken by Wilco de Bruijne (35), with a perch measuring no less than 48 cm. Together with his fishing buddy Tim, he caught five huge perch in only 45 minutes near the island of Maurik. Wilco caught his ‘XL perch’ on an imitation crayfish lure using a Carolina rig.
SAVANNAH VAN DUIJN
Women’s fishing is on the rise in the Netherlands, so it’s only logical that a female angler has earned a top position on the VISpas 2020. The jury’s choice was this beautiful domesticated carp hooked by Savannah van Duijn (20) from Rotterdam.
A catch photo is great, of course, but fishing is about so much more than just catching fish. It’s also about relaxation and enjoying the peace and quiet of nature. Joran Blokzijl (31) managed to capture the essence of that experience on film. In the background, you can see a true Dutch ‘vanilla sky’.
After five years of fishing for pike in the polders around Sliedrecht, with a previous record of only 86 cm, this year Rik Bons caught his first meter-long pike: 106 centimetres!
Fishing is for people of all ages, and Rens Bruin - the youngest winner of the VISpas 2020 photo contest - is no exception.
He’s only 8 years old, but he’s already been fishing for two years now, and in late May he caught this 36-centimetre bream.
