Fishing the Wadden Islands

The Wadden islands along the Dutch coast are a unique landscape. This group of islands – of which five are interesting for anglers: Texel, Vlieland, Terschelling, Ameland and Schiermonnikoog – offer a unique combination of peace, space and fishing opportunities. For instance, in summertime and in the fall, these islands are great for catching sea bass from the shoreline, just behind and even in the surf.

Surf rod or artificial bait?

You may use your surf rod, but also artificial bait. And if you’re going to bring your spinning rod anyway, then also try the sea trout that are patrolling around the Wadden islands. Moreover, in summertime the islands’ yacht harbours have proven to be great mullet fishing spots.

Using your beach rod, you can bring in a nice catch from the shoreline virtually all year round. Combined with their serenity, these islands are a great fishing destination!
