Does my VISpas entitle me to use three rods and to go night fishing?

In some Dutch waters, night fishing is permitted throughout the year. A NachtVIStoestemming (Night Fishing Permit) is required for this, in addition to the VISpas. If you wish to fish using three rods, you will need the Derde Hengeltoestemming (Third Rod Permit). Both are available online at www.vispas.nl

Night fishing is permitted in all waters with the little moon as a symbol in the Joint List of Dutch fishing waters and the VISplanner. ‘Night fishing’ is taken to mean: fishing between two hours after sunset and one hour before sunrise. Note: deviating rules may apply, in nature reserves in particular!

Both the Night Fishing Permit and Third Rod Permit comprise a hologram sticker to be applied at the back of the VISpas. A combined hologram sticker is available if you require both additional permits.

The Night Fishing Permit and Third Rod Permit are valid throughout the calendar year and are strictly personal. If, as a VISpas holder, you have more than one VISpas, you only have to purchase the permit/permits once. Symbols in the Joint List of Dutch fishing waters and the VISplanner indicate where both permits are valid.

The JeugdVISpas (Youth VISpas) combined with the Night Fishing Permit entitles the holder to go night fishing. Persons under 16 are only permitted to night fish when supervised by a person aged 16 or older.
In addition, a fishing club may issue separate permits for its members. If a water is not included in the Joint List, please refer to the club’s list to find out how night fishing and the use of the third rod are regulated. Night fishing is permitted if the water is in the club list and nothing is stated about night fishing.
